Traveler Note: It’s worth it to visit Main Beach at Laguna Beach at least once during your travels. Main beach is known for its wide expanse of sand and its iconic lifeguard tower. It does get crowded, but it’s worth checking out!

Newport Beach is another great destination outside Los Angeles if you’re a beach lover. You’ll find miles of sandy beaches, great surf, and plenty of beachside activities. At Newport Beach you can stroll along the boardwalk, rent a bike, or go for a swim in the Pacific Ocean. The Little Corona Beach here has tide pools with fascinating marine life.
Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach, also known as Surf City USA, is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves the beach. This beach has a great surf, miles of sandy beaches, great surf, and is very laid-back. It’s the perfect place to spend a day in the sun.
Make sure to check out the Huntington Beach Pier. Chances are good you’ll see plenty of sea lions around the pier searching for food. It’s fun to watch and you also get stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding coastline.
Venice Beach
Venice Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in California. We like this beach for its lively boardwalk, colorful street performers, and eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. A must is a stroll along the boardwalk to see all the vendors and get the vibe of Venice Beach. You can also rent a bike, or take a surf lesson in the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, don’t forget to snap a photo with the famous Muscle Beach weightlifters!
Traveler Note: Venice Beach is ever changing so this would not be my first recommendation if you’re looking for something quiet. The beach has also had increasing saftey issues in the past few years due to the growing homeless population that has set up on the sidewalks. It’s a great beach, but be safe!
